Reflection
Swept Under the Rug
Sometimes life offers something else. When I think back at my experience with the Fire Project, I think about the frustration I had over trying to cite facts. I grew frustrated half way through the project to the point of just giving up on it entirely. It was the constant reflection that angered me throughout the process. When I think the act of reflecting or of reflection, I think of a natural process that occurs when one is thinking to his/her selves, but I agree that written reflection can also be powerful. I think the over use of reflections trivialized its meaning. I liked the fact that some people did take reflections seriously. I enjoyed the discussions we created in circles rather than the actual reflections because I learned more from others. I strongly believe social justice philosophy can be both beneficial and harmful. It is harmful when one is forced to believe ideas in the social justice doctrine that is taught at Social Justice High School. People who identity as Capitalists, Moderates, and/or Republicans are shunned during classroom discussions. When I talk about people being shunned, I mean people’s ideas are pushed aside.
I think the group work I did with my committee helped me find connections with other people's topics. I learned how to connect topics from Asucena (School to Prison Pipeline), Aridana (Subliminal Message in Media), Cristina's (Inequity in Education leading to Environmental Justice) topic. All their topics intermixed with mine in some way or another. Another thing that I did not think of, was the fact that globalization in one way or another had to do with everything around us. It definitely either goes in favor for a topic or can ruin it. Globalization ties to teaching LGBTQ studies in order to combat bullying because of it connecting back to money. This essay will explore the ways and means globalization is very much connected with globalization and will argue the need to make a difference today. Thanks to the “economic crisis” happening today due to the stock market and house value losses, a lot more people are losing their jobs. Along with losing their jobs, people are losing their homes and even their families in the process. With the great loss in numbers of jobs, many people pay more attention to movements like Occupy Wall St., NATO Protest, G-8 Summit and others like WTO, IMF, etc. for solutions. This is where I think it should stop. It's crazy how much attention we give Globalization. It definitely was a big issue I had to face. I created an online survey as my beginning steps to collect data around the people that most influence me. I did not achieve to collect 100 people like I had proposed, but I did interview 67. With this high number I know that the findings I get will be big enough to decrease bias in my responses as well as have concrete data to make a statement.
Overall, by the end posting everything online and seeing everything on all the pages made me feel good about myself for finishing this project up. It was difficult to finish with all the negative vibes people were giving others, but I did it. It surely needs a lot of fire to finish this project. In the process I learned that I do not work well with others, who may try to be negative. And I surely hope that in the near future I do not get stuck working aside such negative and nonchalant behavior – that is the main cause of seniorities. Thank you for everything.
